What's the point of a social network?
Information. But the information flows both ways, users get information. And the site gets information about their users that they monetise. If you're not paying then you're the product.
But then you get social networks whose primary function is to be a SOCIAL NETWORK. In that the users socialise, form friendships and even relationships, build a community and everyone has a good time.
To exist we need money, for the site to exist we need money. And we're looking for ways to monetise. Selling data is out of the question. Ads are out of the question. Charging you is out of the question. So what's left?
Currently we pay everything out of pocket with some help from members who contribute. But so far only 0.05% of our active userbase has contributed. It doesn't help that we got kicked off paypal and crypto is confusing as fuck.
We now have stripe set up ( https://www.worldtruth.online/support-us/ ) so please support us there if you can.
Having our expenses covered and maybe a little extra will allow us to spend more time making WT and the video site better and making new sites like a search engine that actually works.
But the point of a community like this is we're all in this together, stronger together. So we don't just want to raise money for the site. We want a solution where everyone benefits.
Some sites already do this, notably steem.com was the first I think. Basically users get paid for content. Then there's minds and not to talk shit about another social network but apparently turning minds tokens into real money don't work so good.
Then there's onlyfans which, yes, is a porn site but their entire platform revolves around paying their content creators, so we can learn from them.
We want you to be able to pay each other for content here. We're going to call it 'tipping' lol now we already have a 'credits' system in place but I think the tipping will need to be separate from that, or we'll need to reset credits and start over. Turning credits into real cash we won't be able to cover that with the existing balances people have.
The way it will work is people will have a tip button on their post. You tip them, WT gets a small cut and the post creator gets the rest. We also need to take into account taxes and fees so we won't have concrete numbers until it's been running a while.
We might also do where you can 'sponsor' a profile, basically support a profile with x a month.
And fundraisers where a goal is set for a post to reach (basically ripping of onlyfans)
So, on the WT side the mechanics are pretty trivial. What's hard is making this work with real money.
Stripe has a program called 'connect' that is designed for exactly this use case. The issues with that is you may be required to provide identity documents to them and our 'nazi' content might be in breach of their terms. You would pay us through Stripe, and we'd automatically subtract our fee and pay it to your stripe account.
The other alternative is crypto, we can accept payment in crypto now and then we can pay out to individual addresses. The problem with this is transaction fees will probably take a significant chunk and automating may be hard which means doing it manually which could mean it takes longer. Also we want to stay totally legal with this and financial transactions like this are often called money laundering.
Or we could accept payment through Stripe and then pay you through crypto once our payments have cleared.
So I think maybe the best way is to provide 'tokens' which are like credits, you buy the tokens from us. Either using stripe or through crypto. Then we credit those tokens to your account. Then you can tip those tokens to peoples posts, and then you can cash out in cold hard cash. And we will pay you either through Stripe or through crypto.
Let me know any thoughts and input you have about this.

i didn't think it functioned as a onesy-twosey kind of thing but would read a user's blocked list and block what matches that list?

Sounds like it's working fine. You can't pre-emptively block people.
"cos: If you block someone then ...

^ that is what is not happening/working;
i can see their comments always,
and they can also downvote mine;
so they keep mounting verbal attacks which wastes my time.
